"Whatever your hands find to do, verily do it with all your might" Ecclesiastes 9-10

By the end of August, our friend Connie announced a lovely "Just because" giveaway. Guess who was the lucky winner ? :>) ..... Meeeee ! And look at the treasures that reached my home ---> a lovely 2009 Nature Pocket Planner, a beautiful postcard from Kentucky, some fun Hancock's fabric, a fabric quilt label (time to finish a quilt and use it !), a Susan Branch charm pack (sooo cute !) + a coaster, recipes cards for my kitchen, and a lovely table runner pattern.
The cherry on the cake was this beautiful Rebecca Barker postcard (how did she know I'm collecting these ???), with such sweet words that moved me to tears....

Did I only spend my time, browsing Blogland, visiting my friends (yes, you!), and looking at all your beautiful projects ? Well,

I PROGRESSED, TOO... AT MY OWN PACE (remember the "turtle quilter"?)

So I worked on my Little Blue Birds - a pattern designed by Nanette (scroll down to the last picture) - if you still don't know about Nanette's Blog - Freda's Hive - please go, go and visit her ! Right now, she's organizing a cuuuuute "Christmas cottage" block exchange.

Here's my first big block of 12 birdies... Five more to go. I really, really enjoy handpiecing them together, and adding some stitcheries for the eyes, beaks, and feathers..

I was thrilled, when finding this fabric for the borders. I just couldn't resist those heart shaped leaves :>)

I'm planning to use this yellow fabric for the sashing and binding, like a ray of sunshine in the trees...

A nice pile of blue fabrics are ready for many other birdies (72 in total), together with other ones for applique leaves, and yummy brown rick-rack for the branches where the birds are standing on...

I also made a felted needlecase + pincushion for a swap partner. It's flying to her now, shhhh...

This is the inside of the needlecase. It took me some time to finish, but I enjoyed making these

Of course, I spent some afternoons and evenings on my Angels Story quilt blocks, fusing and stitching. Can't show my progress today, as a local quilter friend borrowed them for the week-end (she's starting this project). I'm working on blocks 9 + 10 (out of 15).... slowly but surely, I'll reach my goal ...but I'll certainly won't win STINA 's challenge ! HeeHee. Never mind, what matters is the journey !

On another subject,

I'd like to share with you some personnal thoughts about my blogging.

I've been considering about closing this blog, the only reason being me.

Don't worry, there's nothing serious at all : I'm fine, happy, and life is beautiful (moreover, with retirement coming by next December, Yepeeeeee !).... but I'm enjoying taking my time, and I realize I've been a "bad blogger" for quite some time, now : few posts, slow progress, etc... Then I thought I would feel so sad, cutting that link between you and me - I've been blogging for nearly 3 years - and I've learned (and got) soooo much through you all. I'm so grateful....

So, maybe a "BLOG BREAK" ? Like I've seen some friends among us did ?

I'll think about it, with you all in my heart :>)

  1. Oh, don't be gone too long...I will miss you! :)
I love all the projects you have been working on. I still can't believe you all of it BY HAND! That is an incredible talent I shall never have.
Take care...I'll be thinking about you!

  2. I finally was successful in letting go of the notion that I had to entertain anyone by blogging!

Consequently, I use my blog to let folks know what's going on in my life, and have a common place for family and friends to check-in, etc.

Don't worry about the frequency of your blogging! We accept you and your gracious sharing at whatever level you decide.

    Until then, much love!

  3. I was truly blessed with your friendship when our paths crossed one winter all because of a simple quilt swap.

Your hand work and passion for quilting is fabulous, but far more important is that you are a fabulous woman, wife, mother, sister, friend, and neighbor.

If you decide to leave the blogging world, I know just which little home to find you in, in a little village in Belgium. And I know, if I were to knock on the door, you'd put on a pot of tea and we'd chat for hours while we stitched as though we were life long friends.

Thoughts of you will be stitched into all of my work whether you blog or not...sincere threads of friendship.

from a turtle not a hare!

  4. Hi. So great to see you again. Hope you not will be away for long... I will miss you. You realy have been busy with great stuff. Love all your work. Klem :-)

  5. Please don't go far away for long. Even if you do not blog very often, we know you are there.

  6. What lovely "loot!" ;-)

I think that that is one of the best things about blogging: One should have the freedom to blog -- by this I mean visiting other bloggers or posting to one's own -- at one's leisure.

And by now...hopefully most bloggers use some sort of blog-managing service to know exactly when a favorite blog friend updates his or her blog. It's like receiving a friendly phonecall in exactly the right time and exactly the right place.

Pretty please...Nadine? Continue to blog for us...whenever and wherever you can!

  7. Your Blue Birds are beautiful Nadine, and all hand pieced. I take my hat off to you, you must have the patience of Job.
Now you know that blogging is a personal thing, and that there should never be any pressure for you to try and keep up with others who may blog more often or perhaps have more finishes. The thing we enjoy so much about it (or what I enjoy) is the contact that we/I have with so many other women in so many different countries, who enjoy the same or similar things that I do.....stitching. I know that I always enjoy it when you do a new post, but I DON'T sit here and think why hasn't Nadine posted..... All in your time my friend.

  8. Love the birdies. Enjoy your break. We'll miss you.

  9. These birds are so cute.
Have a good blogging break. Since it is your blog, you can post as frequently or infrequently as you like. Sometimes it is the pressures we put on ourselves that causes the anxiety. I hope that you will keepit open and just post now and then when you want to reconnect.

  10. How often you blog and at what speed you finish your projects is your decision and it is ours to respect that. I admit I will miss you if you decide to stop blogging ;)

  11. You do what you have to do for YOU. Just remember to enjoy everything you do everyday. I'll always be here.

    BIG HUGS, my dear friend!

  12. I hope it's only a medium blog break. Sometimes everyone needs a break. I don't read blogs just because people may post often. I read them because everyone who writes one has something to say. So if you blog once a month or once a week, I'd still be reading.

    Your birds are delightful!

  13. I finally made it over Nadine. I've been in a tizzy over this exchange but Hopefully everyone is on their way. I love the birds. They make me so incredibly happy. I'm so glad to have met you. Yes, I don't want to cut ties with you or any of the great people I've met. I've been a bad blog visitor lately. I hate that there are so many friends out there I haven't been in touch with. It will be ok. I'll swim my way back through and catch up. I'll miss you but it won't be long. You have to post your progress on the birdies!!

  14. NADINE!!!
I JUST received my package... oh my goodness!!! It is incredible!!!!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!! BEAUTIFUL! :) I will treasure it!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I will do my best to get yours out next week now that I have your address. :)
    Thanks again!

  15. Cara Nadine continue to blog for us...when you can.
You are a dear friend and I found you here on the web.If you are a bit tired come only sometimes but come.
    A big kiss and hugs.
    ciao ciao

  16. Thank you for your lovely sentiments about the giveaway. I hope you continue your blog, even if you can only post every now & then...just please stay around for those times when you can.

  17. You taake care of yourself and blog when you feel for it!! And for your Angels...I sure would like a little peek at them...and...no hurry at all..as long as you do them...:o)

Thanks a bunch for your comments, they just make my day !
