PREPARING SOME STITCHING...

What am I doing these days , when I'm not asking help from my friends ?

Well, I'm quietly hand quilting "Wabbits" for Darlene.. I also made some applique blocks, for a special exchange with a friend (ShShSh.... it's a secret ! Hi, dear !!!), plus the daily routine at home, helping my in-laws, and physiotherapy sessions for my feet/legs.
Add to this that my kids are having their exams, and you'll figure a bit about my schedule....

However, we had a resurrection at home : while sorting out (once more !) my UFO's boxes, I found this "baby"... cute, isn't it ? I wonder why I didn't finish it, 2 years ago? (another new exciting project, at that time, I guess ! LOL LOL). I'll try to complete it, some day...

AND...

Just as Darlene and Connie inspired me, some days ago, and I pieced "Seaside Rose"...

Now it's May Britt (and Hanne), with adorable stitcheries... They keep telling that it's the perfect portable project, especially when it's hot outside. So I decided to prepare one, to take with me to Italy (OMG it's in 2 weeks ! Time flies !...).

Of course, I was so enthusiastic that I first thought "I'm going to make - Leannes House - BOM , just as my friends ! (I think you begin to know me, now ... LOL LOL).

But then I realized this was quite a preparation job (piecing), maybe too much in my actual schedule (I can be realistic, sometimes...).

So, I chose to start "Leanne's House Winter Garden" . Why not "Summer Garden" ?... well, I think it would only be finished by next winter ! LOL

So let's proceed as the great Fashion designers : working for winter in summer, and vice-versa... LOL).

Thanks to May Britt's kind & wise advises, and after numerous e-mails, I am now ready with my summer stitching project. It didn't require too much piecing (4 big blocks + border), and it's not too big : 35 inches square. However, transferring the stitchery designs required some patience and care..... it brought me to finish it at 3.30 am, this morning (I really must be crazy ! LOL).

I opted for a single DMC coton colour : a variegated dark red, as I want the quilt to have some "Christmas look". I just have to baste my batting now, and start stitching. Then I'll add the backing, and quilt in the ditch (but that's another story, for later... One step at a time ! See why I chose "Winter Garden" ?)

GRATITUDES :

- Lunch with my Bee, today... (I'll tell you about them later)

- Weight loss : 12 pounds, up to now ! WOOOOHOOO ! I'm dancing the "Happy Quilter Mambo" ! (each pound allows me 1 yard of fabric ...and I still have 20 to go, can you imagine what a quilt to be ?)

- Sunny, breezy weather....

- Fresh Gazpacho in the fridge...

- A good book to read, while bathing my feet with "revival salts" (Wow!)

- WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS -

With your permission, I'd like to ask for some eventual help :

While "blogs-browsing" tonight, I "quilt fell in love" (yes ! again !) with a beautiful quilt made by Julie of "Feeling simply quilty" - see her last post (in the meantime, check her whole blog, it's beautiful, and full of tips and bright ideas !).

Of course, I left a comment to Julie and asked about the pattern name. Fifteen minutes later, I had my answer (the quilter's world is really fantastic ! It always amazes and enchants me).

So Julie told me the pattern name :- "Bloomin roses" - and it comes from this magazine :

McCall's Quilting - issue April 2006 (see picture hereunder).

I know McCall's and already put some orders, a few months ago... So I ran to their web site and tried to order the magazine...

Well, when I reached the "check out" page, I had a "security alert", advising me to LEAVE immediately, as my information could be pirated!

WOW WOW ! I ran away (didn't want my precious, cherished VISA to be copied ! LOL)

Now this adventure leaves me a little bit "colder" about ordering there (and I regret it. McCall's have always been very quick and reliable against my orders...it's not their fault).

SO, YOU GUESS MY QUESTION :

Would any friend, among you, have this magazine issue, and be ready to sell it ? (+ postage to Belgium, of course !)

I'm crossing my fingers (and toes !) LOL

**************************************************************************

I also would like to say A BIG, WARM, THANK YOU to all of you, for your kind, touching, comments for our wedding anniversary !

YOU ARE MY GRATITUDE FOR TODAY !

"I DO..."

On Wednesday, 6th June 1973, we said : "YES"

We were so young (22), and had to face so many problems with my parents....

We started in a very small appartment, with a kitchen table, two chairs, a second-hand bed, a bottle of champagne from my grandmother, and so much love....

Now 34 years and 4 kids later, we still do... (well, most of the time ! LOL)

As everyone, I guess, we lived tremedous joys, sorrows, quarrels, challenges...

I think the best thing we learned trough all these years, was to become friends, I mean real friends.

Of course, I still get on his nerves, he still gets on mine (once a week is our average), but this is now "part of the game".

Life transformed us, made us grow up,and yet we still love what each of us has become ... which is all that matters !

A few days ago, I had a giggle with Nonno, my father-in-law :

I told him what my grandmother said to me, the day of our marriage :

"Darling, always remember, that the art of marriage consists in making your husband believe he's on command !"

Nonno then said : "I had told Gaetano exactly the same thing !"...........

SEASIDE ROSE...

Yesterday morning, I woke up "in the mood for Moda", feeling I could use my sewing machine (which is not often the case !... LOL). Maybe all those beautiful Moda Challenge quilts , shown by Darlene, Nicole, and Dawn, influenced me while sleeping, I don't know...

I decided to use a simple pattern (machine sewing must ALWAYS be simple with me !), shown by Connie on her blog, last 30th May, together with two Moda "Seaside Rose" Charm Packs, that Darlene had kindly sent to me.... and it worked like a breeze ! I was (and still am) delighted !

So : TADAAAAAA ! Here are two pics. (sorry, the borders have just been steam ironed and thus a little "frizzy/wetty"). These borders are from Moda, as well ("Chelsea Boutique" by Blackbird Designs, for Moda), and I think they perfectly fit (I kept some beige for the binding). ...... Now this cute "fresh breeze" will have to wait its turn for hand quilting......

Thanks, Darlene, for the beautiful charm packs, and
Thanks, Connie , for the inspiration...

Referring to my last post, some friends asked me to show again my double Irish Chain. The use of a landscape fabric to make it was intrigueing.... My pleasure ! This quilt is among my first ones, I was so much enthusiastic (who ? me ???) that I even stem stitched its name on the borders : "Ma Saison préférée" ("My favourite season"), together with some oak leaves. It's an everyday use quilt, and has been washed a hundred times. Maybe is it the only one for which the kids are "fighting"...
